A Few "Lauronisms":

What is the marketing opportunity here? That question should be rolling around your brain 24/7.

Everything is marketing and everyone's a marketer--even you.

You're doing the world a disservice if you don't market yourself and your offerings.

It's not just what you do that counts, but how you do it.

Stop working so hard to be professional. Be personal!

Marketing is just communicating well with people. Just communicating is a good start.

Remember, you don't get it if you don't ask.

Have a point. It makes it so much easier on the listener.

What does that mean?
Ask the question often. What does quality really mean for you? What does service really mean for you? Get specific!

Marketing is all I have ever done--and I love it!

I have lived, breathed, talked, ranted, cursed, studied, worked, and taught marketing in one form or another my entire adult life, and actually before then. It's what I know and what I do. It's also something I'm very passionate about because marketing represents hope for current and future success. I know that if I can teach people--you--how to think, act, and communicate like a marketer, you absolutely will better your life and your business and that means great things for many people.

As I travel through the marketplace of life and business, I get frustrated a lot. I see people put out terrible communications and complain that marketing doesn't work. I watch companies bypass great opportunities that stare them in the face every day in their business. I watch how short-sighted owners and managers spend so much money and work so hard to reel in customers only to tick them off and send them on their way. Sometimes I'm one of them.

The truth is, I think we all make marketing much more difficult than it needs to be. I think people get stymied and overwhelmed unnecessarily. I think people are too quick to change and too quick to give up.

I speak firsthand as a business owner myself. I've been on both sides of the proverbial marketing fence--working for agencies that served many clients, and for a single company as its Marketing Director championing its single cause. I've licked the envelopes, managed the databases, masterminded the strategies, succeeded, failed, increased sales, wondered why no one was calling, broke through the clutter, and celebrated victory. I speak from experience when I say that marketing isn't a perfect science. That it requires a lot of patience and persistence. That it can make wonderful things happen. And, that it doesn't have to be complicated or overwhelming or expensive. Not if you think like a marketer. Not if you know the principles and techniques I teach.

So, my life mission is to get the "message to the masses" and that means great things for you--books, upcoming CDs, and a growing suite of tools to help you stand out, stir the pot, and put marketing into action. To help you achieve your goals and reach your dreams. To help you go through life confident in what you have to offer and skilled in how to tell the world about it.
