Becoming a Marketing Maven
as airing on HoustonPBS
If you want to stand out
from the crowd, the clutter, and the competition, you've got to think and act
like a true marketing maven. Now that means lots of things, but here are a few
points to get you started.
First: Marketing does not
mean sales, so don't worry if you're (quote) "not a salesperson."
Marketing is about making impressions so that people notice you...think about
you...and decide to choose you when they want or need what you have to offer.
If you're making the right impressions to the right people, you're well on your
way.
Second: Everything is marketing.
Every single communication, interaction, and piece of paper you use in your
marketing sends a message that can help or hurt you, so clearly define what
impression you want to make and do it in everything you do.
And third: Repetition counts
so be relentless about putting your message out there. People have plenty other
things to think about than your message, and even when they get it, they forget
quickly. How can you stand out if people aren't being reminded of you on a regular
basis?
I know some examples would
be helpful, and I have plenty to give you. For these, and more on how you can
become a marketing maven, visit me online at sonniermarketing.com. For now,
I'm Lauron Sonnier with another way to help you stand out!
