Never
Underestimate the Power of a Contact
May 8, 2006
I
have put my foot in my mouth when commenting about
a speaker to someone whom I later discovered was
the speaker.
I have had lunch with people who were just people
but later became major decision makers on major
projects.
I have associated with people with people who
have opened up doors I could have never imagined.
Never,
ever, ever, ever, ever underestimate the power
of a contact. You cannot tell by looking at somebody
if they are a good prospect for you or not. You
cannot imagine who they know, what they know,
what they do, what they might need someday and
who they might talk to.
It
is said that everyone has 52 people in their circle
of influence. So every time you shake someone's
hand or turn your head away from them, consider
that you just reacted to 52 people who each know
another 52 people.
| You
either just drastically increased your chances
for success or dramatically reduced them.
|
Acknowledge
and smile at people. Say hello, good-bye, and
thank you. Be kind and be genuine. You never know
who you could be talking to. Or the impact it
could make on your business and your life.
